Productive despite defeat

Mitchell came off the bench Friday but certainly made his presence felt, finishing just one rebound away from a double-double and posting his best scoring output since Feb. 26. This was the first time Mitchell came off the bench for the Heat since debuting with the team on Feb. 10, and it wouldn't be surprising if he's back in the starting lineup for the second leg of a back-to-back set against the Grizzlies on Saturday.

Puts up 23 points in loss

Even though Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo should be considered the Heat's go-to players on offense on a regular basis, Wiggins was the one who stepped up Friday and led the team in scoring in this 12-point loss. The veteran forward has adjusted well to life in Miami after being part of the trade that sent Jimmy Butler to the Warriors, and the numbers back that up. He's surpassed the 20-point mark in six of his eight games since the end of the All-Star break, averaging a robust line of 21.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.1 blocks per outing in those eight contests.

Fills stat sheet Friday

The Heat suffered a 12-point loss and struggled as a team offensively, but Herro was one of the few Miami players who ended up delivering a solid stat line across the board. Herro recorded at least two tallies in each of the six major categories and remains the go-to player on offense for the Heat, especially in games where Bam Adebayo isn't at his best -- as was the case Friday. It's worth noting that Herro has scored at least 20 points in five of his seven appearances since the beginning of March.

Mitchell will be replaced by Duncan Robinson in the starting five Friday. Mitchell has yet to come off the bench for Miami this season, but Tyler Herro should operate as the team's lead ballhandler in the starting unit.
